Born from Shedd Aquarium’s Centennial Commitment Master Plan, the Experience Evolution identified physical improvements to the historic building. Split into four phases and constructed over three and a half years, Shedd has remained open throughout all of the construction. Renovations focused on two important pillars: Exhibit Content and Accessibility and Connectivity.

Threshold’s acoustics team focused on keeping noise and vibration out of habitats to avoid inducing stress in marine life and visitors alike. This required extensive vibration isolation of the water treatment systems necessary to keep the marine life alive within the aquarium. 

Threshold provided AV system design to support the renovated Lakeside Learning Studio, enabling Shedd’s education and outreach with a series of new collaboration and gathering spaces for interactive programming.
