Threshold Acoustics is pleased to announce new additions to our leadership team.

We are delighted to announce the elevation of Shane Kanter, Rob Miller, Tim Perez, and John Strong to Principal. They have been with us for years, and it’s now hard to think of Threshold without thinking of them. Each leads projects of all sizes and types. Collectively, they have held responsibility for some of the most significant projects in our history while demonstrating leadership and commitment to Threshold beyond their project work. They bring creativity, vitality, and a breadth of perspective that is integral to our practice and strengthens our culture.

Shane, the extrovert of this group, is a community builder who has been with us since grad school. He has championed turning scattered data, photos, and project histories into organized, company-wide resources, took an early interest in mentoring new staff, and adds to our business development efforts. He plays a prominent role in the Acoustical Society of America planning conferences and overseeing publishing efforts. He led our work at Klarman Hall for Harvard Business School and is in the midst of commissioning the Lindemann Performing Arts Center at Brown University, five venues in one and a labor of love for the past six years.

When Rob joined us in 2017, he brought experience from an established career in acoustics which has informed our project management, deepened our mechanical noise consulting, and added perspective to our mentoring of rising consultants. He is currently steering the Ronald O. Perelman Center to completion this Fall in New York, leading our efforts on Microsoft Headquarters at The Square, and is integral in transforming Carousel Theatre at the University of Tennessee. Rob is a board member of the National Council of Acoustical Consultants bringing the benefit of his many talents to that organization as well.

Tim’s quiet manner conceals a notable drive to make every possible enhancement to our process in our already-accomplished AV group. Since he joined us out of graduate school, he has been at the heart of the effort aimed at developing and advocating for deliverable standards and efficiencies. He has been key to our efforts in AV business development and in building a spirit of community; all while leading projects as diverse as the next-generation AV-over-IP systems at Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management and the nuanced audio and video installations at the new Kennedy Center Art and Ideals Exhibit, where technology is subordinated to the experience itself.

John’s passion and intensity power his leadership in our research and development realm as well as his project work. From 3-D modeling to MATLAB to auralizations, he is involved in the advancement of our ways of understanding complexity and nuance in the behavior of sound. Standout projects to date include the Steelhouse in Omaha, along with Al Wasl at EXPO Dubai. His projects are undertaken while reminding us how important it is to stay in touch with one’s art along the way.

Please join us in congratulating Threshold’s four new principals who add their voices to the deliberations and decisions that determine the company’s path.

Dawn, Scott, Carl, Robin, Connie
